Sclerotherapy
The leading treatment
for the disappearance of spider and varicose veins
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy effectively treats varicose veins and spider veins. It is generally considered the treatment of choice for small varicose veins.
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the vein. The sclerotherapy solution causes the vein to scar, forcing the blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is absorbed by the local tissue and eventually disappears.
After sclerotherapy, the treated veins tend to disappear within a few weeks, although it can sometimes take a month or more to see the final result. In some cases, several sclerotherapy treatments are needed.
Medical evaluation is always necessary prior to treatment and in some cases it is necessary to perform studies such as doopler ultrasound, referral for surgical management or drug treatment.
