Lobuloplasty

It is an aesthetic medicine procedure that repairs and improves the appearance of one or both earlobes.

Among women it is very common to have a torn lobe or a total tear in the ear, repairing it is very simple through Lobuloplasty.

It is a treatment that is increasingly in demand as it is a rather unsightly appearance that many women have (even some men if they have made a piercing or dilation in the ear) and its solution is very simple.

What is the lobuloplasty?

It is a simple procedure that reconstructs open lobes or torn lobes. In addition, it can correct the overall appearance of the lobe by modifying its shape and size.

It is a very simple surgery that lasts approximately 30 minutes per ear. It is performed under local anesthesia, that is, only the area to be operated in this case, the lower part of the ear, is anesthetized.

How is Lobuloplasty performed?

It consists of generating a wound in the hole that is broken, and then sutured through stitches, then cover the earlobe that has been intervened to avoid possible infections, although they are very rare in this type of technique.

The stitches are removed after approximately two weeks. The only discomfort that may occur during this period is the tightness of the stitches, but goes unnoticed by most patients.

After-treatment care

The recovery of this Aesthetic Medicine Treatment is very fast and it is not painful at all, the patient can lead an absolutely normal life right after the Lobuloplasty.

IT DOESN’T REQUIRE SICK LEAVE

In the most extreme cases, where the lobe is totally changed, normally produced by dilatations, the procedure is a little more laborious and the excess skin is removed.

What are the causes of a lobe tear?

There are different causes that can cause a tear in the lobe which is a common reason for Lobuloplasty. The most common are issues as simple as the weight of accessories along with the passage of time or acts as normal as sleeping with earrings on. It can also be produced by an involuntary and accidental pulling of the ears or by a small blow during a sport practice or playing in the case of minors.

On other occasions, the passage of time ages the earlobe, it is very common in older people to see very large earlobes, disproportionate to the rest of the ear or drooping.

After the procedure the hole is completely closed and no piercings can be made until 3 months after the procedure, during this time you could wear earrings in sticker or magnet.

Is the scar still noticeable after the procedure?

It depends on the size of the hole, in patients who have used heavy earrings and the hole has been opening the scar is almost imperceptible, but in patients who have used expanders or for any reason have very large holes could be some scar, although after full recovery this is becoming smaller.
